Saturday Morning Road Ride
Runs every Saturday from early April through late October.
The four different start times are meant to give riders of different paces a good experience. Please refrain from joining a slower ride than you are capable of because that pushes up the pace, and ruins the ride for others. On nicer mornings, these four groups can get quite large, so please make sure you are fluent in group riding etiquette to keep everyone safe!
The Saturday Morning Road Ride heads westward from the shop and uses cycling compatible roads in Webster Groves, Kirkwood, and Ladue. There are four different start times to accommodate beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. Many newer riders advance through these four groups as their familiarity and riding skills grow. The route has 18, 26, and 30-mile distance options.
The Saturday Morning Road Ride is intended for riders on road bikes, and the wide variety of rider speeds makes this ride a great one for all abilities. Hybrid and off-road bike riders will usually find their bikes’ wider tires make it hard to keep up the pace of the road bikes. There is no sag support, but there is generally a shop staff rider to help in case of mechanical trouble.
There are four different start times for varying rider abilities:
7:30 a.m Race Pace 20mph and above
finishing average speed of 20 mph and above
7:40 a.m Really Fast Pace 18-20mph
finishing average speed of 20mph and below
7:50 a.m. Fast Pace 16–18mph
finishing average speed of 18mph and below
8:00 a.m. Tempo Pace 16mph and below
finishing average speed of 16 mph and below
Spring and Fall Gravel Soiree Ride
The Gravel Soiree rides are held on Saturday mornings, for several weeks before and several weeks after the Saturday Morning Road Rides. We generally do a 25 mile route in St. Charles County around the Katy Trail and the Busch Wildlife Conservation Area (shown in map), but since off-road conditions are variable check our Facebook Events for up-to-date info before each ride.
